Our Beliefs & Values

Our Vision

Reaching out while transforming within for the glory of God.

Reaching Out

The biblical support for outreach is found in the Great Commission of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20). We have been given the authority of Jesus to boldly live for Him and proclaim His great name. At GracePoint, we realize God has blessed us by being a church located on the corner of Silver Lake and Rice Creek roads in the city of New Brighton, Minnesota. We desire to have a global impact for the gospel of Jesus, and we are also focused on the people within our immediate community.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

While Transforming Within

At GracePoint, we believe spiritual transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit making us into the image of Christ. We realize that in addition to the work of the Spirit, we also must make it a daily habit of growing in Christ. As a result, we value discipleship at GracePoint. We value the discipline of learning and growing in God’s Word; we value relationships and the accountability that comes with participating in a community committed to living out our vision; we also value the ongoing mission of God to the world. While our encouragement is for you to come and worship; our challenge is for you to come, serve and be transformed.

“But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed.” Romans 6:17

For the Glory of God

From the beginning of Genesis through the end of Revelation, everything revealed is ultimately for the glory of God. We strive at GracePoint for this to be our ultimate goal. As children of God, we were created for His glory. We are instructed to live our lives in such a way that in ALL things God receives the glory. Scripture clearly tells us in Philippians 2:11 that “every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Our Goal

To present everyone complete in Christ.

Our Values

Our aim is to fulfill our vision statement through outreach and discipleship. We desire to be a people who live like Christ and live for the glory of God.

Bible & Worship

We value exalting Jesus with our lives by conforming to His Word. (Colossians 3:16)

Children & Youth

We value equipping our youth to live faithfully for Jesus. (Mark 10:13-16)

Hospitality & Fellowship

We value community and growing together in Christ. (Acts 2:42-47)

Missions & Outreach

We value intentional engagement for gospel advancement. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

What We Believe

In essential beliefs we have unity,

“There is one Body and one Spirit…there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…” (Ephesians 4:4-6)

In non-essential beliefs we have liberty,

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls… So then each of us will give an account of himself to God… So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” (Romans 14:1,4,12,22)

In all our beliefs we show charity.

“…If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love – I gain nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:2)

THE WORD OF GOD

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

THE TRINITY

We believe that there is one living and true God eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

GOD THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and eternal death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin conception and birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal and visible return to earth.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

REGENERATION AND CONVERSION

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who have faith and repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

THE CHURCH

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of making disciples for Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).

CHRISTIAN CONDUCT

We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others, that their conduct should be exemplary before the world, that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions, and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

THE ORDINANCES

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration and proclamation of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

We believe that every human being has direct relations with God and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith, and that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority.

CHURCH COOPERATION

We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another in a denominational organization. Such an organization, whether a regional or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated upon amendment of the Constitution. Churches may likewise cooperate with inter-denominational fellowships on a voluntary, independent basis.

THE LAST THINGS

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal blessedness of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.

SEXUALITY AND MARRIAGE

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe in the redemption of all through a saving faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but through confession and repentance people can be restored to a right relationship with God, no matter what sins or struggles they may face. While we do not affirm any form of sexual immorality, whether it is rooted in heterosexual, homosexual, transgender attractions, or any other behavior resulting in conduct that contradicts with our sincerely held doctrinal beliefs, as members of the body of Christ, all GracePoint employees, volunteers, and leadership staff are required to treat others in a Christ-like manner, treating all people with respect, compassion and sensitivity.

HUMAN LIFE

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, those with physical and mental health challenges, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life, and act as a witness to society and to the state regarding intrinsic, inherent, and inviolable dignity of all human life, from fertilization to natural death (Psalm 139; Psalm 22:9-10). Therefore, GracePoint Church will operate its activities and mission consistently with these beliefs.
